Unfortunately you are far away. Here in jhb, there is a pet store called Pet Masters. They have that filter uptake mesh

Any place who sell irrigation or water filtration systems should have.
I have one on my RO unit.
Better to use a sponge for shrimps.
Shouldn't need it for dead shrimps...:laughing7:

I use a sponge. It also acts as a secondary biological filter.

Are you able to get hold of the strainer/mesh near you? Unfortunately I dont live close to that pet store so I dont go there too often. If you still not able to get it closer to you we could make a plan. I might be heading out there in maybe 2 weeks time

I use filter floss, but sponge is probably better cause less risk to compact flow

Why not just something like a XY-180 sponge? Will cost you the same as a mesh guard
