Ok, so now everything is all good to go, but I have a problem. How do you transition from one tank to the other? Since my current 2ft is operational and all my livestock is in it, I would like to keep it running whilst I scape my new 60p. Problem comes in is that the 2ft is sitting on the 60p cabinet. I was thinking of draining 70% of the water atleast to be able to move it, but worried about the livestock. Also, I would like to use the substrate that is in the 2ft, since I have the florite in it already. Any ideas on how to do the transition without too much disruption in the current system?
"Dump" all the livestock into a large bucket along with water from the 2ft, add filtration and aeration. Then drain the 2ft as much as you like, move the 60p into place and start scaping away. I've done something similar. Livestock will be ok, but just be careful of the sensitive fishies. (I lost two otos in total, after doing it like this 5 times already) Just my 2c. There might be a better way, though.
Lol, actually have posted these tanks but here they are, the 30P cube is still running and is a shrimp only tank, low tech. Will take a more updated pic tonight. and the 60P is also still running, but removed the majority of the plants to the bigger tank. But here it is when it was nicely grown in. Still have to move all the fish up to the main display, just need to make sure that they not carrying any nasties! Will take a pic tonight.
