Hi guys I am looking for a a solid tank stand or table/cabinet, does not necessarily have to be brand new. But it must be solid enough to carry the weight of a 80 litre tank and 20 kg's of gravel so well over a 100 kg's. Length should be 62 cm's and the width 33cm. Does not matter if it is Wood or Iron. Willing to pay between R 300 and R 400 for it.

    Thanks.

Look in 2nd hand shops for something about 20 years old. Older furniture will carry that weight easy.

Yeah I was looking at the newer stuff today and I just laughed when a guy tried selling me a pine table telling me it would hold the tanks weight. Otherwise I would need to shelf out the cash for those metal stands you buy at the LPS stores.

So I hit a bit of a snag, seems the tanks dimensions are a bit weird so the stands you can buy from the LPS wont works, so I asked one of my dad's friends to make me something similar to this:

The top and bottom parts will get varnished wood, still deciding on what type though.

Thats a cool stand. If you can spare the cash get yourself a tin of Hammerite from Builders and give it two coats. It will last you forever then!

Why not a nice piece of pine? Can get counter tops from Builders. Will be a little pricey though, but some good varnish will keep it going for ages.
