Some rocks are nice, and harder to get.. Dragon rock has a great look, but I have not seen equal in SA.. however people can improvise.. :)

    Great looking tank @Luis Embalo

Think as far as rocks go...all about texture. Dragon rock will always be a favourite...but paying R140/kg...erm...no...

Still thinking i should take an angle-grinder to some rock and see what I can come up with...lol

Think this is a fantastic idea. Want to find a strong enough chisel to shape rocks.

I have a strong hammer and a chissel, then I play with granite.. but not easy to get the look to look natural. :)

What I need to do is to go to farms and search for weathered rocks..

Yeah, those prices are crazy, it is just a lump of rock.. :)

I saw some amazing rocks at Gordon's bay, but would need a electric hammer to dig them out, and a permit.. :)

I have a friend with a farm outside of Worcester, 3500 hectares. Does the geology suit you? If so, I can make a plan to collect some rocks. I want to sleep on top of Ben Thomas again soon, before it gets hot, so will go up in 3 to 4 or 5 weeks from now. Let me know. You see the terrain here, oh, and zero chance I will go the summit to take some pieces down o_O So it would be surely slightly more weathered, but out of the river bed on the northern side. Old article on a site I used to post to to see what it's about:

No problem. Just message me if you want to hike. At most I'll have my girlfriend in the car and it's likely she'll be on call but plenty space. Otherwise I will collect as I see fit and do a giveaway. I love money make no mistake, but hobbies and profit I don't do.

So your family owns the farm? I can get a few people to come and hike for a day, and we will pay for the access.. :)

We got a group that hikes all over..

No it's a mate, no family, but a good mate. We had two family farms in Namibia but they've been sold. Numbers are a problem typically, but they're great people so maybe join me soon and negotiate from there. Once you've been there once they will have confidence in you and it's easy days to head further. In truth, Ben Thomas gets used very infrequently. And the owners are salt of the earth people. Money means nothing here. Just knowing the right people. This is old school stuff Luis, having spent two new years on the farm and having a jol. So awesome to actually experience that. They have in the past been open to external hiking parties from MCSA. As the southern face is bloody vertical. But anyway, don't want to bore the APSAN's, I retire to cooking a bolognaise.

Sounds awesome.. I will surely take you on that, and see what can be done. It is hard to find good people here, so it makes sense they are so reserved. :) lots of nutters out there.

Settled. I do life, no matter what. Message me as this weekend I'm busy and next again but after that we must... Temperature in the Hex River Valley is a real deal breaker in summer so we must hit this before end of October.

:) actually not looking forward to it.. I do not like to travel for work, and do not enjoy leaving the family alone here.. but got to pay the bills.. and if traveling to Barcelona for three weeks with everything paid is my sacrifice so be it.. :)
