Hi Quintin, The main thing is that the food goes down, in other words, it is eaten. Discus are incredibly picky eaters and once they fall into a pattern of eating certain foods, it is difficult to get them to change. I am very careful of using South African beefheart, unless you specifically know the source. Steroid usage in feedlot cattle in South Africa is uncontrolled just about, and steroids in beefheart will make the male discus sterile. Thanks for the complement about the discus, it is important to note that these are Curipera Alencer discus and not just normal Alencers, which is a big difference when it comes to coloration. I hope your discus continue to grow well, and that you can get nice specimens out of them. Kind regards, Dirk
thank you dirk.i am aware of the steroid issue.i get my beefheart from a reliable butchery and have a good relationship with the head butcher.he lets me know when its safe to buy.also if im lucky i get buck heart from some hunter friends.
one thing im very happy about are that these discus have not been sick one day. Unlike when i started with petshop discus had to have a arsenal of meds on hand as my hospital tank was never empty and they either died or didnt grow past 12cm.the tans are estimated 7-8months old now so still have pleanty growing to do
