I noticed something very weird... my driftwood is pearling :eek:

So is it going to grow!!!? Hehe :laughing7: ..

Jokes aside, are there any reason or explanation for this?

Excuse my ignorance, but any idea what type of algae it is? and will it cause any issues in my tank?

Ive posted on another thread, iron deficiency?, the water parameters.
test.. Will have to get some soon.

The water here is quite hard, around 7.5+

Yesterday I tested my tank water and it was 7ph and KH of 3dH

CO2 is running at 2-3bps.

Based on the calculator, I'm dosing the following:

NO3 = 13.29ppm
PO4 = 1.64ppm
K = 18.21ppm
Ca = 14.12ppm
Mg = 8.57ppm
Fe = 0.09ppm

All this is based on the EI method with all the locally available ingredients, i.e. Lenolax, Vital Dolomite pills (crushed), Dischem Saltpeter, Natures Choice Low Salt and Trelmix.

I dose every morning with the NPK and evening traces as per the recommended schedule with the water change on Sunday.
With regards to lighting, I have a 25W LED light, on for 6hours. Pressurised CO2 @ 2-3 BPS. Into an inline DIY reactor.
Have 2 SAEs, and some snails (think pond snails) as the cleaning crew. Can't find any ottos here in KZN.. :( and still looking for some special plecos..
Running Sicce external canister filter.

really dont know what im doing wrong?

ottos would probably clean it up..

in the meant time you can squirt some excel or peroxide on it..

How much excel? I have started dosing some, 1.25ml yesterday, but how often?

I really want some ottos, but it seems like it is impossible to get here in pmb. The LPS here dont even know what they are and when I explain to them they just point me to baby chinese algae eaters.

Do I have to spray with H2O2 or dose the tank with Excel.

i would spot treat where the major issues are rather than dosing the whole tank, it is more effective that way.

Hey Chongkie

Eurospirit usually has, I bought 4 from there about 2 weekends ago. And they order then all the time. Give them a call.

I'm looking for SAE... but can't seem to find any even in the Flying Fox mislabeled tanks.

congrats, your diatom algaes are gone :)

poop goes away after the algae is gone :p

then you have to find a way to feed these guys as the tank wont be enough to feed them well..
