Yes Slasher, its the Prodibio Aqua growth substrate, so far so good.
I used Langa soil after ADA aquasoil was sold out in my shrimp rack and in the last couple of months lost over 200 taiwan bee and 100 pinto babies on langa, so a huge loss. Langa is simply a buffering substrate with no added minerals.
I am in the process of replacing all the langa with prodibio on the rack and so far so good, no losses.
The prodibio smells exactly like ADA aquasoil, a very wet earthy smell lol

The aqua growth and shrimp soil from prodibio is exactly the same, just the grain size is smaller of the shrimp soil like ADA fine soil

Not trying akadama @Maurice? My cycle started with a pH of 5.5. Currently sitting on 5.8. My buce doing really well and shrimps multiplying...

Yes akadama is also a option, also a good substrate. Amano himself used it many years back for his scape tanks before he launched hes own brand
Just not crazy about the colour tho....

Yeah you right, akadama is a good choice. But not everyone will like the colour. I kinda like it and how the greenery stands out [IMG]

Sometimes I have to wonder, are we doing this the hard way?

Context - PIC jug in direct sunlight with a shade cloth and placed in another tank with water around it, so nothing get too hot. NO filtration, CO2 etc ...

Ok we are getting into the cold side of our season and temps are dropping, added a bit of fertz, think for the first time, lets see algae heaven or growth explosion.

My black lizard is growing okay. Seems to have lighter leaves when emersed. Still going strong :) IMG-20180305-WA0027.jpeg IMG-20180305-WA0029.jpeg

Update on some new leaves, fissidens in the center tub is taking forever to grow. Hoping for a nice big ball effect there. Will rescape around it once it's grown out more.

Sounds like a good condition to me!

My emersed black lizard isn't looking well at all, will probably bring it back to a watery home

A few people may sell here or there. My black lizard melted in the cold when emersed.

Here I'm trying a cutting of my melawi emersed in my room under artificial light :) IMG_20180422_183945.jpg
