Hey guys Just got home and noticed that I have free swimming Blue Ram fry. I just fed them frozen rotifers and finely crushed Tetra crisps. I'm going to setup a BBS hatchery quickly. I'll update later again. Video: Blue Rams Fry Pics:
Thanks guys. I will update this post when there's progress Ross - Master Fish Keeper? I think not, very long way off mate Hope all is well with you and the family
Thanks Ryno, I also hope they actually make it to maturity. I estimate there's over 100 fry. So far, the first-time parents are very protective...hope that behaviour keeps up. Brine Shrimp hatchery has been setup.
Awesome dude! Rams have always been firm favorites of mine!! Stunning fish, and a good size spawn too!
Shot guys Looks like all the fry are still there. Just fed them with some more frozen rotifers and crushed Tetra crisps. BBS should hatch by tomorrow morning.
Awesome result.. Are the lot on a community tank? It would be good to have a tank for that pair alone.. I never managed to keep Ram alive.. do not know why, so fantastic that you managed to have some fry..
Thanks gents. I am quite chuffed yes, but the timing is sooooo bad as I'm leaving for holiday next week for 3 weeks. They are in my 1.2m tank (actually my only tank left BTW). The only fish that's in there are: 1 x Khuli Loach 1 x Bronze Cory 1 x Cardinal Tetra 3 x Blue Tetras Here's a tank shot: Wasn't expecting them to breed, but nature took its course. I've just made arrangements with my cousin who will check up on my tank regularly during my absence. Catching the fish in this tank is going to be a nightmare and the parents are protecting their fry very well anyway.
Update: Lost a few fry but still quite a lot alive still. Would estimate that about 30 died/ got eaten. Setup the another BBS hatchery. Still feeding frozen rotifers and crushed tetra crisps.
Hey guys So I got back from holiday and I lost 3 batches of fry as my cousin kept me informed. When I arrived back, I noticed my male was breathing fast and lost all colour. The inevitable then unfortunately happened and I had to get another male as my female was bursting with colour and fertility. I got a male this past Saturday and now today I find that they've bred and are guarding the eggs. So I'll be monitoring them carefully and be in control of raising them. Some good news though....I noticed over the weekend that some of the first batch of fry actually survived. I counted at 5 different fry who is a bit grown now; they were hiding in the bush of plants the whole time. Anyway, that's what happened since the last post...I'll post again if there is something of worth mentioning. Cheers D
