    Hi Guys,

So I'm finally setting up a proper hi-tech tank and decided to shut down all other tanks I have running so I can just focus on 1 tank. Decided to go fairly big, so hopefully I can create something good with this.

Just an initial tank shot to get the thread going. Will post updates as I make progress. Planning a decent sized Monte Carlo carpet and then mostly low maintenance/slower growers so I don't have to sit trimming constantly.

Plant list I am thinking of is :
    Monte Carlo
    Stauro
    Anubias
    Java Fern
    Various Crypts
Helferi (if I can get my hands on it again)
    Buce's
    Pinnatifida
Alternanthera Reineckii Mini to bring in some colour
    Blyxa
    Various mosses

For hardscape I plan on using some natural drift wood pieces and maybe some dragon rock, if it goes well with the wood.

A pic of the tank with just some soil added so far. Still gotta do the sloping.

I plan on building a cabinet wrap to hide the stand and it will be closed top.

    Small update.

Photo from far as it's far from nice! Just trying to get the carpet grown for now. Chucked a few other plants in to grow out a bit, and just keep them alive, but need to still scape it properly. Wood is where I want it to be so I won't move that.

I would suggest you don't use or trust that magnetic cleaner, an awful invention unless you are into scratching your glass ! If left in the tank it collects and traps particles and turns it into sandpaper. Much better and safer to simply use an old credit card..

OK sweet, shot Trev! In my previous tanks I would take it out and clean it before doing a full glass clean, but yeah used to just leave it in and it would get dirty! Will go the cc route then!

Makro cards work nicely, as the algae shows up against the white :)

For deeper tanks I hold the card with those rubber blue tipped tongs or use a snorkel.

That carpet will look great when filled in! Good luck there

+2 on the cards. They work, I also use a kitchen sponge and a toothbrush for tougher algaes
