    I want to put this lava rock in one of the compartments of my sump that i use on my freshwater aquarium. As far as i know there is no additives in that rock. They use it in a gas braai to keep heat not to burn.

    Awesome. I'm just skeptical about the source and how it's handled. You'd have to wash it thoroughly.

    I think pumice stones (Sold as seachem Matrix in aquarium trade) or porous sponge would be the next best thing.

    Good find. I never knew this existed at builders!

    Lava rock at the pet store are much more expensive, thats why I am going to try those of builders.

    I actually ordered 320g for $10 just a few days ago. I'll still have to pay R25 at the post office!

    I googled the product you posted. Looks like a good size for a sump. May have to break it up to use in a canister.

    This rock is good for bio media. Just very dusty, wash it well and it will be fine.
