Good day. Is the following media good for biofiltration: https://www.builders.co.za/Garden-&...ries/LK-Lava-Rocks-(2kg)/p/000000000000056459 It is lava rocks thats being used for a gas braai. I heard that lava rocks make good home for bacteria.
I want to put this lava rock in one of the compartments of my sump that i use on my freshwater aquarium. As far as i know there is no additives in that rock. They use it in a gas braai to keep heat not to burn.
Awesome. I'm just skeptical about the source and how it's handled. You'd have to wash it thoroughly. I think pumice stones (Sold as seachem Matrix in aquarium trade) or porous sponge would be the next best thing. Good find. I never knew this existed at builders!
I actually ordered 320g for $10 just a few days ago. I'll still have to pay R25 at the post office! I googled the product you posted. Looks like a good size for a sump. May have to break it up to use in a canister.
