]Hi guys. So I got a hold of a 1.6m by 600 by 600 tank some time ago. Well, as I was moving it the hired help I had were not fantastic and chipped the bass. After some time I got the guy who had built the tank to come redo the bass. Striped the tank, cleaned up the silicone and all good got a new tank again. The water level will sit at around 550mm or 560mm as it has an overflow. The tank is braced. My concern is that the tank is constructed from 10mm glass. Every glass calculator I have used recommends 12mm glass. Some shops I have spoken to have said yes 12mm glass is recommended and some have said 10mm will be fine. May be I am paranoid however; the last thing I want is to fill this up and have it cracked. So, its just lying empty and waiting for my next move. I have reached a point that I am thinking of getting rid of it and getting a 12mm one built. So any of you guys that are experienced with this, please help?
Hi Dash I would say if you are concerned already then sell it. It will play on your mind every time you look at it...You'll start imagining noises and seeing cracks where there aren't any. Just as a comparison my 1.2x0.5x0.5 - 300l is made from 10mm glass. Marc
