So this morning turned into a disaster for me, we got a new cleaning lady but due to me being extremely busy this week I forgot to inform her not to try and cleaning the outside tank or keep any type of cleaning spray away from it. When I go back all hell broke loose....dead fish everywhere....total fish losses so far includes: 7 Ottos 4 Cherry Barbs 10 Neon Tetras I did a 50% water change and added a bit of extra prime and a big bag of carbon too the water, the other fish seem really fragile at the moment so here is hoping that they make it...No I need to explain to my 12 year old what happened to his favourite fish he greets when he comes back from school each afternoon....
Sure its the cleaning lady's fault? My mom was surreptitiously cleaning my aquariums for years with domestos, handy andy etc... No fish losses.
Re: Re: Urk! It is a open top tank with a DIY glass cover with gaps on the side. She told me she sprayed some intop of the glass, so the chances are it ended up in the water. The water also smelled of the same cleaning agent...
Out of interest, what would be a safe cleaning agent to use on the glass? Our cleaning lady also takes her time with my one tank, but it has a good lid, so no chance of "evil stuff" getting in the water.
Dude sorry to hear about that! must be kak feeling coming home to a clean house and dead fish... But look on the bright side, now you are not overstocked. hehe, which was never a problem anyways
Sodium Bicarbonate solution to remove the greasy paw-prints etc... and then vinegar to get rid of the carbonate residue.
