Where to geophagus?

    Want to know who is keeping geophagus in the country? Im looking for some but not Threadfins or surinamensis.

    Hi Rossouw,

    With regard to your request, there are Geophagus that are sold as Geophagus surinamensis, but they are in actual fact Geophagus altifrons. The name Geophagus surinamensis was changed about ten years ago, but our importers are so out of date on these issues that they sell them under that name.

    If you are interested in Geophagus, Hervé in Uitenhage has some Geophagus sp Tapajos Red Head which have recently spawned, so contact him if you are interested. He may also have some Geophagus brasiliensis, but they are murder machines as far as I know....
