Visually they do not look the same to me - but might be wrong ... I am suspecting that you have a +-3.3 -4 volt dc supply constant voltage. when you measure voltage at no load form the DC side of the supply what was the output. Any marking on the units ?

Like I said before, I think the description from the Web page is misleading. My drivers were rated at 20 w and able to drive 6 to 12 3 w leds. My thinking was 6x3 = 18w so how is it possible to drive 12 leds if the total was is 36w. I tried it and blew 1 driver so I decided to run 5 leds and be safe.

Gods soldering is a pain. Sometimes the melted solder sticks and stays, some doesnt. I think its my soldering iron... Probably because its a cheap brand.

Apparently I can only drive 4 leds at a time, not interconnect them so I have to separately connect them to a power source. I've formulated a plan to connect them all to one power source - good thing I bought wire connectors so that I can connect them all together. I didn't get to finish this because other things got in the way - my parents left this morning to go to JHB to catch a plane with my brothers and their families off to the UK for my stepbrother's wedding. Then my parents will only be back next month so I have the dogs, the house, the farm and the staff for the whole month. I got things to do around here as well.

I also had to do WC on both tanks today, planted the rotala wallichii, added ferts and excel, took the dogs out and checked on the chickens. Did more soldering and thought about how I could work around the problem and fed the dogs as well, checking on them periodically as well as some cleaning around my place.

Yeah I got to plant seeds but apparently now there's a snow forecast this coming weekend so looks like I might have to postpone til the following week because of the frost, I don't have a seedling greenhouse yet. Last one got ripped by the wind and the staff just don't care about anything - things don't get looked after. Just winter seeds like Kale, winter carrots and brussel sprouts.

    Update on LED setup:

Got most of my LED chips working except for 3 of them. Will fix that at a later stage as I am fed up with fighting with loose connections, solder not sticking and stuff ups. Managed to get some to stick with flux so all is good.

    So here are some pictures.

I am just waiting for the epoxy to set on the wire connectors. Then I will wait til I'm happy with the set up working after I've fixed the 3 leds (I know it's the heatsink causing the issue so need to replace it - it's a mission to remove it cos of the epoxy). Once that's sorted and I'm happy with everything, then I will make a cover on the top of it.

Last of all, it's on a timer plug so I don't have to pull the plug or even put a switch on to switch it off. I don't even have to worry about the lights either - it will switch off after 4 hours according to the timer plug settings.

Thanks. Surprisingly the reineckii is taking off like it's nobody's business and it's supposed to thrive with CO2 - must be all the excel I'm putting into the water... :p
