Hey guys, decided to show the difference background and substrate can make on the tank in my experience! Here's a screenshot from my TASA thread. first my old look, then black back then with sand.

Substrate and back makes a big change, Those of you guys with shy fish you should go black immediately. This plus structure created a surge in activity in my tank :)

It was a bit of a PITA. painted black enamel, had to keep the fish in a coolerbox with a pump and media for a day. 3 layers of paint on the tank, It will peel off if you pull from a loose edge so be careful :)

I used some card on another tank. Doesn't look too great from the back but it works

Why do people prefer spraypaint or paint over? I mean you might change your mind and want to change the background to another colour or something.

I"ll be honest - I think sticking on a piece of black plastic sheet with olive oil and a card to smooth out the bubbles would be much cheaper.

Bonus points for me cos I chose this video with a pretty girl in it ;)

Hahaha wait til you join the big boys club :p Nah just kidding.

Yeah if you choose to go permanent, then paint isn't bad. I"m not saying it's bad or whatever - if you go through my threads of my tanks, you'll see how much stuff I've changed around almost every week. It's bad. Since I got the plants from Ferdie, I am trying not to change stuff this time.

I have found something I like, and want to keep it simple. Not like I have funds to change it a lot lol (and it's a huge pain on big tanks)

Each to his own hey spray painting is way neater for me and gives a smooth finish and it can be removed with a blade if need be. and also i don't change my mind like a yoyo.

LOL you know me too well now. Like I stated in my previous post - if you decide to go permanent, then it's not bad. I guess it's just me that prefers a stick-on vinyl, I just can't justify painting on my tank glass.

Haha I was going to say it was a woman thing but then again, it might be because I'm a perfectionist in real life. Everything has to be right or it needs to get re-done til I'm happy with it.

Which reminds me, I need to go to town again and see if I can get some black vinyl from one of the mom n pop shops. If I don't come right, I'll probably end up buying black spray paint. I doubt I'll even change my mind about that one - having seen what the black does to my cube with a piece of cardboard, I actually do like it.
