    Hi guys

I have neons, corys, guppys and pristellas. i would like to to purchase some Ramarezzis. Ar they suitable for a community tank? are they very aggressive? They Really look spectacular. I saw them at Sams. Does anyone know of other fish shops that stock them?
Or can I get some from some one who breed them. Keep me posted

Rams are lovely community fish they aren't that aggressive and are very inquisitive/ have alot of chariter, its best to get about two of them depending on your tank size because the are slightly territorial oh and a mixed diet is also important for these little guys.. just a word of warning thou they can be alittle sensitive and iv never had long term success with them:(

Hi Philfarm. thanks for your encouraging words and sound advice. I really must make a point of taking a trip out to see you. Do you know where I can get some of these Rams. Friends say that I must try to get the "German Blues" as they are hardier and have stunning colours.

I agree the german Blues look good. I went to Sam's today. He has some small Rams. not much in the line of colour, hopefully they will get some. I thnk they were Asian bred. i lve in the Plumstead area. Sam aquarium is the closest to me. i am hoping there is someone who breeds they locally. PS what types of food do they eat

Risen, The Rams at Sam's are from a local breeder in Wellington (near Paarl) in the Western Cape (not NZ)
Although they are still small, they will colour up nicely, once they are settled and grown.
@ Philfarm , please let me know (PM) where I can get some realy nice Blue German Rams - appreciated!
    Gert

Sorry man, I get my rams in Natal, their quality is much better, I could get the contact info of the LFS for you and you can see if they will ship them up, or I could bring you some when I come back to stellenbosch they cost around R45-60, (Thats if they have stock, i bought all the rams i could find for my own personal stock last week) oh and what exactlly was the problem with the last ones you had?

They all had white spot and were gasping. They were lethargic and did not show normal behavoir of a a fish trying to escape capture.

Risen, you have to ask Sam's himself about his breeder in Wellington, or if anybody know of this breader, please assist.

The breeder in Wellington is Gerald Tutt from Eco-Aqua. The rams that he breeds are originally from fish that I imported from Germany in 2000, so these are "German rams". These fish are robust and are more colourful than the fish from the East. He sells very healthy fish so if they had white spot that was added by Sam......

The fish imported from the East (Singapore and Malaysia) have all been grown with loads of antibiotics, and will all die within a month of importation. I do not know where the rams from Natal come from, but if they have been imported from the East, they are sold with a death certificate...

    Kind regards,

    Dirk
