I'll post some pics this afternoon, 24hours should give me a good idea if there will be any clogging...

Possible clogging could also be a result of the density of the mesh.
If this mash clogs very fast then I'll try some less dense mesh, I've got two different densities...
    "30" and a "40" - The "30mesh" being more dense...
    pic to follow...

    30mesh on the left
    40mesh on the right

The 40 is more difficult to work with, since the individual stainless steel strands are thicker...

The point of it all for myself and @GDT78 is not to keep our filters clean from plant material... so if it clogs up fast I can deal with it...

I don't want to deal with "donating" my baby shrimp to my canister filter impeller....

I bought a couple of the premade Gush ones a few years back. The ones that fit flush on inlet get clogged sooner than the "fatter" ones, but it's not an issue if you syphon off muck at weekly water changes.

I ordered a few on eBay and it definitely looks like the 30 mesh. It should be a quick unplug and clean. Who knows when these will arrive though!

My new Lilly pipes should arrive shortly and my temporary fix will definitely not work. Definitely keen to buy a few of these from you.

You can also use that plasticky grey fine netting they sell for house fly screens, cheap as chips, works well, lasts forever it seems and easy to make up and fits any size.

I use them on my bigger canister inlets as well.....but then I have trained my ancistrus squad to pre filter all waste :)

@JAX - You need to arrange with @Trev Pleco to see his setup the next time you're in CT. The longfin are so awesome.

Not really, got it on a little tetra tec 700 and the flow seems unaffected.

if I did not have this over the inflows I would have lost countless shrimps, pygmy corys and brigittae rasboras in my 120P

Thanks, I'm struggling with snails getting stuck in my intake of my canister and thus reducing the flow (the area where the hoses clamp onto the head of the canister) any ideas how to solve ?
