    Hi All
Question 1 . Can anyone tell me what kind of snail it is that is commonly found on aquarium plants that are purchased? I don't think I can take a picture of one, as they are really tiny. Is it just a pond snail? Pics that I see online show pond snails as being much bigger. I would say mine get a max of 5-6mm.

Question 2. Do assassin snails eat these snails or not? I have read elsewhere that assassin snails ignore tiny snails, and only like the bigger ones.
    TIA
    Fiona

It's probably Malaysian trumpet snails. My assassin love them and basically eradicated them.

Does it have a cone shaped shell or a flat round, similar to a rams' horn shape. I suspect you may be referring to mini ramshorn snails.

It's definitely more flat and round, not cone shaped like the pictures I have seen on the net of pond snails. If they were ramshorns, wouldn't they get bigger? These guys seem to stay very small.

Sounds like the miniature ramshorn (Gyraulus acronicus or Planorbis arnoldi). I have yet to see assassins attack or eat these.

Thanks so much for the ID! I will do some research and see what results others have had. Anyone like to comment on whether they have had success with assassins eating mini- rams' horn snails?

My best defence against ramshorns so far is my fingers... crush them against the glass, easy peasy.
