    I used a Canon 5DmkIII with a 100mm Macro lens and (please dont tell the pros, I might get the evil eye lol) my camping head light for extra light :)

    That's a pro setup anyway .. presume the EF f 2.8L ?
    As for the light
    you are excused as the proof is in the pudding .. I often use 12volt LED downlights with barn doors and scrims for small mammal set work..
