The fish I am currently babysitting are about to go back home so this leaves me with a rather pleasant problem an empty 1.5m tank.

My plan is to stock it with predators like leaf fish, gars etc. Now besides the two I mentioned I would like to ask you guys to help and point out a couple of species. As long as it does not get too big for a 1.5. and can live in a planted setup.

(Please lets not turn this into a mudslinging match arguing about the ethics surrounding keeping and feeding some of these fish. If you have a issue with it please discuss it in another thread. Thanks :thumb:)

Hmm not a bad suggestion Gold Datnoids are beautifull but do you even get them here in SA? And if so it would most probably cost a fortune.
A 1.5 would also eventually be too small for them. Pity

I see you have not mentioned a cichlid yet? Are they out of bounds?

...but on a more serious note there were some bucktooth tetras around recently.
Rumour has it to see them feed as a shoal is quite something.
... or how about some predatory catfish?

There was an awesome show about the vampire catfish on Animal Planet last night.

Nasty piece of work... if I ever swim in those rivers I will be wearing protective underpants :D They spoke to a guy that got one up his behind, and apparently they have been known to use the other route as well :'(

Oooooooohhh those are nice, I want.
    Can you organise?

On a serious note I already have needle nose gars and would like to add fish that they would be able to live with, like leaf fish etc.
I recon I could even add a BGK.
The buck tooth tetras, might end up as snacks for the Gars though and they are not to keen on sharing their quarters.

I've been thinking along the lines of leaf fish however I believe there is some Ctenopoma acutirostre around and they would be perfect for the setup I have planned.

    Please keep those suggestions coming.
