    Hi,

I'm portuguese and i've two small planted tanks. I'm still in the begining of the learning curve, but with some fine help i believe i'll get to a decent level :)
Next April i'm going to live in Mozambique and as soon as possible start a new tank.
I really don't know if there is any aquarium shop at Maputo, but i always can go shopping at South Africa.
One really nice thing of this kind of foruns is the amount of friends we can get (here in Portugal happens that way).

Best regards and a happy new year!

    Rui Ravara

P.S.: sorry for my english, it's very rusty these days.

Apparently all you need to get across the border with fish is a fishing licence (well, thats to get from Mozambique to South Africa). There are many interesting little fish in Mozambique. The killies are very nice but you are not going to find the Nothobranchius near Maputo. You will need to travel inland (to collect black rachovii and orthonotus and furzeri) or further North to Beira to get the red rachovii (orthonotus and furzeri). There are several more Notho species going north past Quiliemane. Both the orthonotus and rachovii are going to be redescribed soon so these species names are tentative. There are many lampeye killies (katangae and johnsoni) and far more little barbs (that are similar to Barbus gelius) and cichlids.

    Hope you enjoy Mozambique.
