I have a project up and running. Want more detail follow the link. https://www.tropicalaquarium.co.za/threads/planted-journey.28959/#post-364893 Time for plants and everything included. Little detail that might influence the answers. I have 3 5.5watt 6500k LED bulbs with 400lm. Tank is 35cm deep and for substrate i have play sand. I have trelmix for micro dosing and will look into scape carbon or injected CO2 if price decent. My proposed plant list: _emersed_ water sprite anubias moss cryptocoryne _submerged_ amazon sword java fern I want more suggestion as well as where i can get the plants.
That's why I like this group. Great assistances Emersed plants will be on the rocks which will come out of the water and hide pvc and than some moss on the spray bar
Google "Riparium" and Riparium Planters" and/or "Plants for Riparium" I just have a feeling that it's where you want to go with this tank.
EXACTLY! I can't wait I thank you for saaving me money on a plant that might not look right with my scape. I will get more lava rock to fill out the background and hide equipment.
Vallis nana will hide your equipment nicely. Look at my tank on the homepage 1/3 in from the right side at the back of the "pathway"
Got lava rock today, waterfall sound nice. Where can i get bigger rock @Joshua Tree @R.C. I want that riparium scape
Unfortunately that is one of the biggest myths ever... dis nie 'n bonsai boom nie. Bonsai trees get pruned to stay that small. Imagine taking a boerboel puppy and putting it in a shoe box and expecting it to stay that size forever, not gonna happen... I like your plan for the tank, its always great to see someone trying something different. The google suggestions that the rest of the guys made are awesome. Are you sure about the play sand substrate? Not maybe try something with more nutrition and that will not possibly compact over time?
Well.... I might disagree with you all on the amazon sword...... If you plant it in a small pot inside your gravel (So that the roots are bound in the tiny pot) theoretically you would dwarf the amazon sword. This can be done with Arum lily's (varkore). So I think it would be possible to do with an amazon sword as well.... But that means you need to take great care to ensure you use a solid pot with no holes for the roots to grow out of and that the roots don't grow over the pot. a single escaped root would set it free to grow to ginormous size.....
Exaclty, And if you want to you might even be able to repot it now and again to get new fresh leaves on it
Julle is kwaai. @jakkalsbothma I could buy one bag of nutrition rich substrate and use it in a pot plant? Any suggestion? Already have the play sand in the tank @Joshua Tree @Hendre @BugMan That would take care of the amazon sword as well. Progress is a slow process and currently waiting on tank to clear
