So guys I finally got my ottos today and I'm really exited about getting them. been wanting them for ages mainly because my plants needed some clean up from all the algae they had.
So any advice on keeping them the proper way ?

Best food for them is diatom algae, but they readily take blanched zucchini as well

So did they make it? I have had 2 for a few years now. Tried adding more but the newer ones never make it very long.

Hahaha the LFS owner thinks the cae is SAE as he sells them as SAE so i showed him what a SAE looks like. He swoped me 2 otto's for the cae and i paid for the 3rd one.

Also told him to rather buy otto's than cae.

I'm waiting patiently for my LFS to get stock. I'll keep an eye on them for a while and buy the ones that has started feeding.

With Otos the first 6 weeks or so is the period in which they die in my experience. Once they pass that time point then they seem to survive. Feed cucumber and baby marrows that have been boiled for a minute and allowed to cool. Most otos are quite malnourished when they arrive in the LFS.

Here is a pic of my two guys just hanging out. It is my unscaped plant tank. Just a whole lot of anubais, java fern, subwassertang and java moss. No substrate.

Picked up 3 of these guys today at Coastal aquatics. Two are a yellowish colour while the third is the normal colour. R40 each. Will take photos in a few days once they have adjusted to the tank

All three are still alive. They are looking a bit thin but I am hoping to remedy that in the next few weeks. Plenty of GSA on the sides and back of the tank as I only clean the front glass

Excuse my reflection but here are all 3 in the same shot. And plenty of algae on the glass:)
