Good day Gents , Not new to aquariums though - moving over over from TASA to APSA , this will be my first even planted tank , I am very new to the hobby of plants & want to go full out planted... Tank will be a 3ft , with Fluval 305 , modified spraybar- with some matrix in & ceramic only with lots of batting , should add purigen later depending on clarity , ADA aqua soil (amazonia) around 12L in.. ADA fertz for now is Green Brighty step 1 & Brighty K... Going to run x2 T5 lights 24W, Nature Red 4500K. Should add CO2 later... I am not going to try pronounce the names but hopefully Later I can. I encourage any advice that you guys have to help me to get the most out of this tank so it can thrive. So please add your comments & guide me please.
Hi sorry man. Been doing assignments all day. Also rugby and stuff on, saturdays are always quiet. Anyways, the tank is looking good man. Now just to watch the plants and try see what they need. Either excel or ferts etc.
Welcome to the green side...usually a bit quiet over the weekends...you know...water changes, babelas, rugby, teasers....all those things take time... Inline reactor...those things are gold...you wont be sorry What livestock you planning? Or you just want to grow plants for now...
Thanx deadpool...loved the movie... Tertra neons Orange Danio's Pair bristlenose's Some cherrie shrimp 4 Golden apple snails & then my favorite ... Pair of each Powder blue & electric blue rams from Marco...
Thanx...still think I should've been in contention for the oscar...but let's rather not go there... Couple of things... Apple Snails + Planted tank = DISASTER Shrimp + Rams = DISASTER You can't have the best of both worlds...you'll have to choose If you love snails...rather go for giant ramshorn snails, they are plant safe (apples AREN'T). Shrimp will just be expensive, bite sized snacks for your Rams...not to mention, a 3ft might be a tad small for 2 pairs of rams...specially if they start getting into mood
I knew the day my snails eated the cucumber hole that their might be a problem with plants , thanx for the heads up...will chuck the snails then... What alternative is there to shrimps for help cleaning the tank? I also adding about 5 corydoras... I know about the two pairs about the rams , when the tank starts to grow good there should be enough hiding space for them...or I hope so otherwise one pair will go separate in a breeding tank...
Adult shrimps "might" be able to hold their own...but babies sure as hell wont!! So you'll eventually run out of shrimps...as there will be a generation gap. With enough hiding spots...you might be able to sustain a small colony of shrimp, but highly unlikely. I've seen my Apisto. Rio Tefe's literally rip adult shrimps apart (and they were only around 3cm then)...so be warned
