I've been doing a whole bunch of research on nutrient deficiencies for an article I'm preparing.

CO2 deficiencies are very similar to nutrient deficiencies. The advanced stages of a CO2 deficiency is the rotting stems and the stem going clear. The deficiency in the initial stage presents itself by very similar evidence to nutrient deficiency.

Just remember that the lack of CO2 could prevent the plant from taking up enough nutrients to supply the plant all the necessary nutrient to survive, so the 2 are linked, hand in hand.

Also, BBA is not a sign of a CO2 deficiency. It's a sign of inconsistent CO2 levels in the tank.

Thanks guys. What 's the solution for my problem. CO2 is not on the cards unless I look at DIY. I have the 2 Seachem plant packs - Fundementals and Essentials which I dose according to the bottle on alternate days. Macros on one day then micros on the next and so on...I also have Flourish tabs in my silica gravel

Here are a few pics of the holes/damage...or not! How do I upload pics on this forum. When I click the icon it inserts "img" in brackets but doesn't allow me to select pics?

Thanks JP01. IT blocks me from image hosting sites! I guess I will have to wait until the weekend. How frustrating! :BangHead:

    Hi Guys

Urgent help required! Is there any reason why tank bracing should not be level with the top of the tank? Help.....

What do you mean? Is it lower than the top of the tank?

No. The reason it is normally a few cm lower is to accommodate glass sliders. I have built tanks with the braces flush with the top of the tank and not had any trouble---and I was already taking chances, using 4 mm glass for a 40 cm deep/60 cm long tank.

Hi Tyrone/Sean - Thanks very much. When I went to check the tank they have set the top of the brace about 5-10cm below the top so yes, if I want to use sliders I now can. It is still high enough that my canopy which will overhang the top by 30mm will hide them.

I'm collecting the tank tomorrow at about 15h00 so seriously excited 8). I just hope my wife can help me carry it . The glass is about 80kg.

    Hi Guys

Do these pics above look like phosphorous/potassium or nitrogen deficiency. Also, am I correct in saying that the plant with the algae is Bacopa?
