Re: Re: New DIY CO2 Method citric acid
Holidays... this is the best time of year for me, work wise. All the students go home and I can work merrily without having to compete for equipment. I take my holiday in spring or autumn to avoid the rush.
Oh, I just bought one of those kits on ebay. Christmas present to me from me on behalf of my wife.
I like your thinking Tyrone. My wife asked me what I wanted so maybe this is the answer (I really want pressurised CO2! but that will have to wait)
Thinking? I'm just well trained. She says buy and I buy. She made the mistake this morning of asking what I want for Christmas. You mustn't think, you must be quick!
im going to wait for you guys to get yours and then you can provide feed back as to whether this system is up to scratch hehe
Re: Re: New DIY CO2 Method citric acid
Didn't you see the links I posted from ebay? I am sure that they do welding in South Africa.. R150 for a 500gram bottle, and another R150 for a regulator.. hardly thousands..
Why don't people use pressurised CO2? God knows why.. I do not know as well..
For example, I just bought two of these:
@ £30 including delivery.. this will allow me to use the welding disposable bottles, 500 grams.. this would be about the same price of this DIY citric acid..
Don't think this link has been put on the thread yet. But fish-street in China sells really cool kits for DIY Citric Acid CO2 methods.
Here's a link. http://www.fish-street.com/diy_co2_system_complete_kits?category_id=0&search_string=CO2&search_category_id=0
That one is from the same manufacturer, but has a better needle valve.
I have been searching for a seller.
Nah, the Ebay one is better... simply because I bought it and want to feel good about myself.
Luis, I don't have pressurized CO2 because I don't have space to put it. The only place I have for a CO2 system is behind my tank and a 1 L coke bottle just fits there. For others, even a few hundred Rands is a lot of money around here.
yeah.. I understand about the money... this just seems the same price as the mig welder bottles..
How much you paid for it, including deliveries?
About size, I will take a picture of my current mig bottles (I got two as spares), next to a coke bottle.. I think that the mig bottles are smaller..
I tried DIY before, with good results, but it does not make economic sense to use it, there are cheaper ways..
okay guys, who supplies these disposable mig welding stuff here?
tried the google and it said afrox - but cannot find disposable
There has to be some.. you may have to call a couple of companies, but most panel beaters will know where to get it, or have some. They would use it.
Check these guys out..
will call around tomorrow from the office - if i find anything, i will let you guys know
One of the issues I have with South Africa is the inability to find reliable information online.. most shops are not online, or do not sell online.. it is always a pain to find something..
So after a bit searching.. I found a seller online, they sell CO2 bottles, disposable ones, and cheap, R255.
I bought two adapters in the UK, and will be buying some of these bottles to use on a a couple of nanos..
With less than R500 I will have a running pressurised CO2 bottle.. this to run 24/7, or if you want, just buy a solenoid and put it inline.
If you look you find.
damn - not sure how you found this - i was looking but clearly not in the right place. Will folllow-up tomorrow with them and see for a reg.
thank you very much
By the way, we all have the same problem in ZA - not everything online and not as much in terms of variety
It was by luck.. I was looking for mig welders, and some guys wanted to fix a car, but did not want to rent the cylinders, so they were advised to either buy a Afrox bottle second hand then get it refilled (a very good idea), or to buy these, which are the same ones I get in the UK for £15. You just need to get a regulator, easy to find, or buy on ebay...
Ok guys here is what I would do currently if you want to import some of the items:
Up Aqua Regulator
$55 + $25 Shipping $80 * 8.8 = R705
Bubble Counter = Coke Bottle 500ml + Spray Fitting R15
Up Aqua Inline Atomizer
Up Aqua Normal Atomizer
$11 * 8.8 = R97
Cylinder - Transfire
Separate names with a comma.
