The dip tube has been removed, but the regulator has no pressure relieve valve. The pressure must have gone up coz i found the diffuser flouting in the tank. The turn valve on the extinguisher does have a safety valve.

I dont know if this happened coz the diffuser blew off maybe and then the regulator couldn't handle the sudden release of pressure? Side note: this is a oxygen regulator.

Yeah, that was definitely not a slow leak. For a reg to freeze over like that, something had to have popped. It most likely has a neoprene diaphragm, so my first guess would be a perforated\ruptured diaphragm.

I think you are correct on ruptured diaphragm, when i open the turn valve i only get a hissing sound from the regulator and it doesn't hold pressure and the pressure adjustment knob does nothing. Wonder if it can be repaired? Its a saffire O2 regulator.

I think it was bound to happen sometime because the regulator was like over 15years old.

Will hopefully receive the new regulator in this week.

Still the frozen regulator does make for a cool picture, reminds me or an outside ice skating ring I recently saw ...

Up and running again....yay!!! Now to dail it in... Thinking of getting a pH pen, have seen numerous threads on other forums that suggest 1. pH drop is more or less what you should be aiming for.

Haha ja Ferdie, its not everyday you see a frozen regulator.

More than a week without CO2 did not do the tank any good. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Plants will be OK ... the effort to get algae to subside might be a different story.

    Glad it is sorted ..

I know and i want to add shrimp, problem is the Kribensis will make a nice meal out of them. So far i have added 4 ottos, going to another 5 today and see how it goes... Also gona trim the hell out of the plants, want to see if the new growth can hinder the algae growth.

1st update since my CO2 went haywire... Think this is the best my tank looked in a long time. Still fighting some algae mostly green spot algae. Adding more phosphate seems to worsen it.

I removed the Ammania, that plant was just killing me, replaced it with the limnophila aromatica, best choice ever. Just sad to say in 2 weeks time the tank will be shut down, moving to a new home. Will updae as i rescape at the new place. [IMG][IMG][IMG]
