    Hi all

So i got a new tank a few months ago, unfortunately i had to break down the 3ft due to not having enough space for both tanks.

First thing i did i gave the stand a bit of structural support for the tank since the mopani wood i got is very heavy and the tank only has 6mm glass . The wood i got on a farm near Kakemas.

Next i painted the back with 45% gloss black paint , giving it 4 coats.

Started to cycle the filter with some molly's back in July.

After giving it alot of thought i kept the LED floodlights as the light source. Tank will be running 4 × 30w floodlights. I still need to modify the "lighting unit" so that i can adjust the lights up and down if needed.

    Tank:
    1200×450×460

    Lighting:
    4 × 30w LED flood lights

    Filtration:
Dophin c1000 and viaaqua 300 canister filter (awaiting new impeller for the viaaqua) just added a sunsun internal filter to help clear the tank. Also added the old filter media to the Dophin.

    Substrate:
    Microbe-lift biologically alive substrate

    CO2:
    2kg Pressurised DIY fire extinguisher.

Some pics i took while setting up the tank.

    Somewhat of a update....

Growth has been ok, my crypts melted, but they are making a recovery.

Main reason for the update is.... I came home now, only to find that i now have some extra little fishys in my tank.

This being the first time I have fry, i dont know what to do lol from what i read is that Kribensis take care of their fry.

Anyone with some experience please feel free to comment. [IMG]http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/59aefe1900fe9/VID_20170905_211323.mp4

Growing in nicely, some GDA on glass... Need to add some ottos or bristle nose plecos.

I think some fissedens would look nice on the wood...

Struggling to get some decent growth out of the Ammania gracilis... Some stems grow fine, others just twist and curl. Less trace dosing seems to help.

Thanx Pierre, of the whole batch only 3 of them survived. They're about 1.5cm big now, one of them is starting to get a bit of color.

Kribensis are terrorists, they killed 2 of the mollies and the male dug a crater in my substrate lol.

Bad kribs on the killing spree. Good luck with fixing the crater in the substrate. Maby, and not maby, if you supply them with a cave he might not dig again

They do have a small cave, but maybe its not big enough for them... Will try and add some sort of cave and see how things go.

I already fixed the crater lol it was so bad you could see the bottom glass of the tank. Must say this Microbe-lift substrate is very light.

Yay... Uprooting is a issue, but once the plants root it seems to befine... Had to plant the MC deep in the substrate to prevent uprooting.

Tank seems to be happy, except for the Ammania, still getting twisted growth with some stems. The ones that do grow normal have large leaves and thick stems, anyone care to share their experience with ammania gracilis? Will be adding root tabs maybe it likes root feeding better.

Some pics of the normal looking and the not so normal looking growth:

Overall happy with the tanks progress, no major algae blooms, gda seems to have disappeared only minor BBA, also added a second wavemaker to get some more flow going and better CO2 distribution, monty carlo is doing its thing and the ammania... Well i added some oc root tabs its doing better but still curly growth, must say its color is looking better but something is still not lekker.

Planted some limnophila aromatica... Now this is a nice plant, i think under decent lighting this plant will show some sexy color and with extra Fe. Thinking about replacing the ammania with the limnophila just growing some more stems , at least it seems i can grow it. Will add a pic, gives a nice purplish color.

Other than that, I've been doing regular maintenance and keeping the biomass in check... Hmmm... hygrophila corymbosa is one massive plant.

Does that regulator have a pressure relieve valve?
Has the dip tube in your cylinder been removed?
