I drew the plans 18months ago.
I was mad enough to build the house myself.
but it let me do a few special things.

Judging by your previous setups, I can't wait to see what you'll do with this one.

You know that water magnifies things.
So the boys will not mind...the girls might have a problem with their ass's

    The tank is 650mm wide.
I'm going to have a central background to avoid the blushes.

LoL she likes the tank where it is.
I'm glad that she has confidence in my growing skills to make a curtain.
Might have to plan a big trim when the mother in-law comes to visit.

    That is some awesome lighting!
What are you going to go for? from what Iv read and heard the MH burn pretty hot so why dont you just use the other 650 odd watts of lighting "you have lying around" that will give you about 6w/gallon and cover a pretty diverse spectrum...

This is gonna be epic! how is the propagation for this tank going?

    Hey Phil

I have nearly finished building the lighting setup.
The frame is done, half the wiring is done.
I have to wait for the shops to re-open to get a few final bits and pieces.

    Final setup will be

    4 x 54w T5 4000K
    2 x 54w T5 6500k
    2 x 54w T5 6700k

    4.5w/gal

I was debating on using 2x54w lunar lights.

bringing the tank down to 3.4w/gal

you can grow most plants at 2w/gal but saying this their are people that have 6w/gal and are very successfull at aquascaping.
you could try staggering the light times so you get a peak burst during the middle of the day. (something like when the sun is at tvelve o'clock). but i think having so much light over the tank is going to drive the plants excessively and nutrient deficiencies are going to be hard to beat. but its worth a try anyway, if you want to test/stretch your capacities.
with lighting like this, weekly trimmings can help you pay for the high costs of electricity consumption.
