Just wanted to share a pic of my newest koipond member!
have always liked the doitsu varieties..
Thanx Trev. Yes I have a few Doitsu in my dam. Some Shusui and a very beatiful Yamato Nishiki. I also like doitsu a bit more than the other Koi
The colour distribution is very nice. Both Shusui and Yamato Nishiki are beautiful fish. Trompie do you show your fish?
Bought some doitcha from a dealer supposedly from japan, however some of them lost their colour over the years, but perhaps my water.
Then this jumbo beaut doitcha was killed a couple of years back in the moonlight during the spawning, seems that the bigger they get the more vulnerable/prone they are to heart attack with over vigorous males. Was a teary sad day !
Wow dude, do you own a lake?
lol, but some of the koi are having their 40th birthday shortly
this koi was over 7Kgs, folk in Japan have grown them to over 11Kgs.
heaviest carp caught in the wild 40Kgs !
Wow Trev massive Koi! Its sad that he passed!
@AquaS - No I don't...not yet anyway, my koi are all relatively small. I only really started my Pond up last year..and everywhere I go I always look for small Koi with Potential. So I have a few from Israel and a few from Japan. I bought a very nice Kin Ki Utsuri also recently from the Japan import.
the biggest Koi in my pond is a white Doitsu and he is only about 30cm now I guess.
My first few Koi was actually all bought because my girlfriend wanted some and they were sommer locally bred koi. I was more interested in tanks at that stage....but now the Koi has grown on me to the point where I actually contemplated selling my tanks to fund a few more koi
My Koi are a lot happier to see me in the afternoon than any of my shrimp is...hehe
definitely a 'she'
