    Hey all,

    I dropped out of scaping for a long time but I’m back.
    I haven’t gotten it going till now as I was still waiting to make a light that would be capable of growing high intensity plants. I spent a couple afternoons putting together something I’m super chuffed with. Running Cree LEDs on heatsink that won’t let them die this time

    All that is left if to gather my extensive plant list which I’ve shared below and to decide on livestock.

    Looking forward to sharing this with you and gaining some wisdom.

    Tank:
    • Starphire 45cm

    Substrate:
    • Aquasoil
    • Washed riversand through a small hole colander to get a consistent grain. (Most natural looking option I could find even with ADA)

    Filter:
    • An old canister filter with Purigen and Matrix

    Hardscape:
    • +/- 30kg dragon stone

    Nutrients and CO2:
    • Various Scape and Seachem basics
    • Still looking for a CO2 regulator to get the paintball tank working right.

    Plant list:
    * glosso
    * HC (have)
    * Hydroctyle T. (have)
    * Java fern mini
    * Blyxa Japonica
    * Bucephelandra (various)
    * Fissidens Fontanus (actually did the yoghurt method on rocks last time and some of it survived)
    * Mini Cryptocorine
    * Staurogyne Repens
    * Crypt. Parva
    * Anubias nana var. petite
    * Pogostemon helferi
    * Monte Carlo

    Joe

    Some updates for the thread.

    I recently acquired an UP Aqua CO2 regulator which I adapted to fit a paintball canister. The unit it working like an absolute charm and plant growth is just crazy as soon as they go in. I made some 4DKH solution for my drop checker which seems to be working. It’s blue in the images because I just did a water change and put new solution.

    I’ve planted out a massive bunch of plants this weekend. They’re all in emersed state so they do like a touch odd, but all the carpets should come together in about 2-3 weeks I estimate. Fissidens on the rocks (yoghurt method 4 years ago which survived a dry tank for 3 years) is coming back with little fronds all over the rocks.

    Still trying to attain some Parva, Bolbitus and Microsorum Trident for the Scape. I’m probably going to pull the H. Tripartita out but we’ll see.

    Next goals:
    • Either buy or build a CO2 reactor (can’t do the little bubbles in tank) if anyone has suggestions about reactors please comment!
    • organize live stock. Need to decide between fish or shrimp.
    • get glass lily pipes. Preferably an inlet with a floating skimmer

    Tank looks good bud. The LED's look a little warm to me, or is it just compensation from the camera? Might have a glass outlet pipe if you are interested.

    Thanks! Just keen for it to grow in!

    It’s cooler in person. I can’t even remember what I made my LED light with but as far as I remember it was Daylight Cree XPE which had decent spec all round for growing without adding other spectrums independently. Only wish I had added 2 more LEDs.

    Let me know about the lily
