Ooh this is tough, will they be fine in a 45cm tall tank?
Until they're very large, yes. I spawned them in a 45 cube.

I'm considering one or 2 angels with my polypterus
Hendre always get 6 to start off with, you need a school, Angels would be terribly lonely if you had only one.
Yeah I decided against it. A group is too expensive for me and I can't house that many either
Honestly some of the best fish I've ever had and their only babies! Really amazing fish ! If your thinking of angels these are not to be missed.
In my oppinion angels should not be kept as single fish and a group of 6 should not be housed in anything less than a 55gal tank, breeding pairs can be housed in 20gal breeding tanks, along with goldfish and bettas I believe these are some of the most abused fish in the hobby.
The problem is people dont realise how big they actually can get given the propper conditions they are commonly sold in fish stores at about R2 size next to guppies, danios and tetras so people assume its ok to keep them in a setup suitable for the smaller fish.
After a few months the angel gets big and starts biting or eating the smaller fish creating the myth that they are agressive fish.
Kept in suitably sized tanks and in groups they are sweethearts and an amazing comunity fish.
I personally keep (and breed) guppies in my angel tanks. If they are happy and well fed they dont even bother with the guppy fry.
To get to my original point house them well and feed them well and they will give you pleasure for years to come.
Don't and the ciclid in them comes out creating chaos in your aquarium.
Angel on dudes.

Ya, angels get big, polypterus get bigger. Not ideal to mix right now
Any Manacapuru Angelfish currently??
