ID and first aid please

    Got this as a hand-me-down from my brother-in-law. Generally I'm quite good with normal house plants and always pottering about in the garden, but these things are a mystery to me...

    1. What is it?
    2. Can it be saved?

    It was in a better state when I got it but it seemed to take some strain after getting some direct sunlight in the windowsill it was standing. I have since moved it out of direct sun light's reach.
    Yes, I do water with RO water only in the tray. Anything else I should be doing?

    Almost looks like some sort of pitcher plant?

    If you keep it watered it may pull through, just make sure it's well lit and fed. There is lots of info online for carnivorous plants :)
