    hi all
ok so here is a how to pimp your Odyssey light unit, hope this help and if it dose say so.
    ps this is fore a 39w t5 deal (x2)
ok fists get your self same alanod
work on the side that has the yellow plastic on that the side you want
    cut it to size
140 mm x lengh of unit
    [IMG]
    then mark it 35mm apart
then score it (draw a line, a light one ) with a nt cutter
    [IMG]
now the Odyssey comes with a clip-pie
    [IMG]
mark and cut a space for it . take note that you only cut the middle 2 parts like sow
    [IMG]
    then see if it fits
    [IMG]
    remember there are 2 clips
    [IMG]
    now starts the fun
get a ruler i took a mettle one, place on score line and bent lightly up all the way
    [IMG]
note this is the outside one
now turn it around and do the ather outside end
    [IMG]
ok now the middle bend this is done the ather way so:
take it to the edge of the table or wood, the score line
    [IMG]
    and bent it
    [IMG]
now that all has a bent it time to bend to the right angles so you want the inside angle to be + - 80decreese
so use the edge to bend the athers two edges same more as well,
    [IMG]
    ad the clips
    [IMG]
take the unit apart on the one end with no wires on
    [IMG]
see if it fits like mine it did not
    [IMG]
    so bend it same more
take of the yellow plastic on the outside two edges if you want
    [IMG]
it is a tight fit so pull push it in there just remember to ade the clips wen the slots fore them come up
i use the clip to pull the alanod into the unit
ones it is in , screw the clips back on, take of the res of the plastic
and poet the unit back together.
i poet the clear plastic caver of the unit back seeing you have reflectors in the plastic is not going to stop much light and it will keep the reflectors clean
    last pic done
    [IMG]
hope this help what you all think

Thanks Wolf, I went ahead an retrofitted both my dual pros exactly per your instructions, see attached pic of one....

To be brutally honest though, I notice little to no difference, in fact it almost seems like the lights are a bit dimmer than before =( [IMG]

just remember that it all goes about reflection and how the bulbs light interfere with each other. now that you have individual reflectors the light going into the tank will be a lot more, as you can see the reflection of the bulbs on the sides of the reflector. thats a good sign. maybe the lights look as bit duller cause you looked at them and your eyes just need time to adjust. I did this exact same mod to my quad light unit a few years ago and i could see a big difference when i looked at the plants growth.

Could also SEEM dimmer because the light is going into the tank now and not in all directions including fringes intonyour eyes. (Not sure if that is what Ivan meant)

Cool, well, lets wait and see :) Basically only did it for my HC as all other plants were happily growing at a rate of knots even before the mod. Just my HC was struggling, so I'm hoping this mod will sort that out. :)
