Its definitely a most addictive hobby. The fish i keep are:
    4*octocinclus new
    4*neon tetra
3* siamese flying fox (big mistake in having more than one)
I am thinking of adding 6*tiger barbs 6*green barbs and 6* cherry/rose barbs
Im also looking hi & lo for shrimps (where can i get?)
I have a few plants which i can identify and most i can only guess
Many redddish plants seem to die easily
pH of my tank is around 8 GH is very low KH is very low
currently have a home made CO2 brew with a Hagen? reactor but pH still remains very high????
Some plants do very well most do terribly

Shrimp are acctually illegal to keep or sell in South Africa.

Those brewed CO2 mixtures/kits don't create enough CO2 to pull you CO2 down more than a few 0.1 pH on your sized tank.

Are you dosing any ferts into you tank? If so what are you dosing?

Short of spending a small fortune, nothing really. You can try filtering you water throught peat which will bring down the pH but it will give your water a "tea" colour.

What plants are you keeping and as Cameron would ask how much light is under the hood?   If you can get hold of Seachem Excel, you could dose that as a liquid carbon source, in addition to the DIY CO2.

Welcome Yunus, how did you hear about APSA?

As for your CO2 it is not a lost cause. Google 'Tom Barr CO2 reactor' and you will find DIY plans to make one, on your size tank I would make 2 for either side of the tank. It's a very effective diffuser and works well to get the CO2 into the tank. As RC stated, how much light do you have (how many and what wattage tubes) as if it's low light you won't need the CO2 at all.

If you want moss I can get you some, but I won't lie to you, it is quite expensive for the ammount you get as it's brought in from the east. But it's enough to 'get you going'.

    Regards
    Cameron

I think i got here thro google-{ web pages from s of a- forums }not too sure
but after surfing the net like crazy for 4months im glad tha iv got here finally
lights are just 1 *30 watts
but plants seem to be dying , trying now fertilizing
with PMDD( still need to add K2SO4 / what is the common name?)(what about KH2PO4(common name again)
dont know if my problem is because of a short lived experiment (now given up) with not doing
water changes (bad advice from a website)
As for the moss what price what name how suitable for my low tech setuoand how do you get it to the deep jungles of north coast

30 watts over your tank is not going to cut it, thats whats killing your plants, not enough light. Add another 1 - 2 tubes (preferably with reflectors) and that will help you to keep the plants alive. Don't do any dosing for now as the light is not enough to force any sort of reasonable nutrient uptake. Sort your lights first and then we can do a dosing routine for you.

K2SO4 Is Pottassium sulphate, KH2PO4 is Monopottassium phosphate.

I'll send you a price list for the moss, I will speed post it down to you upon arrival or you can give me your postal address for a direct delivery?

    Regards
    Cameron
