    Welcome.

For sure a sword. Like the coloured substrate you have in there. Not something we see every day.

Best would be to remove the plant from the pot and plant in the substrate. :thumb:

    Hi, there. Welcome to APSA.

As some have pointed out it is a Sword plant, but that probably doesn't help you much. Google Echinodorus sp. (Amazon Sword) for more info. :)

You should remove the plant from pot and definitely remove the rock wool from roots before planting as the fibers can cause irritation to fish's gills.

Hi all thanks for the advice. It was a present for my new tank. I only have gravel on the bottom of the tank. Would love to have a real plant fish tank though.

If you don't want to change out gravel for better suited planted substrate, then you could always plant it in a small terracotta pot with some Aquasoil or search for the Diana Walstad method or mineralised soil.

    Greetings

You can grow plants in that gravel by the way...I grow plants in pool filter sand.

...but you will have to start dosing ferts to the water column then, in which case you'll have to get more plants. :)

...but don't you need to column dose no matter what substrate you have?

Not if she only has one plant in a pot with mineralised soil for example, but of course it would be in her best interest to get more plants and start dosing liquid ferts.
