Yup, glad to be here, been avoiding the planted thingie, but I installed some downlighters (the kind you get in a ceiling) in one of my 2ft tanks to see what happens...

Hey Quinton, I'm very interested to see how that downlighter 2 foot project pans out.

Just imagine - a 45cm cube tank in a dark room, lit from above with loads of mosses and stuff. I think that would look really cool.

Well I did a rough DIY with an old lid I have. The effect is great, altough the lights create lots of heat vs wattage output (they raise my water temp about 4celsius even with a huge hole cut in the lid for ventilation!).

I am considering adding a 100w light as well to this tank for the water grass. The anubias is doing fine though...

Just read the "before you post" threads lol...

My real name is Quintin. Yes with an "i" instead of an "o"...

My interests are Catfish and Oddballs. I thought I was pretty knowledgeable on Cats until I spent some time with Shane from PCF, wow, this guy can tell where a particular Royal Panaque comes from just by the shape of its nose!

I like oddbals, and I enjoy keeping fish no one else has, currently that slot is fille by my flounder, anybody else here has one?

I know next to nothing about plants, and know a bit about cichlids, but not too much.

    Does this cover everything?
