Hi My name is Riaan. I stay in Parow North in CapeTown. I have been keeping fish for 24 years (no I am not that old, just started very young). Currently I have a 250l tank in my reception area with 5 discus in it. The plan is to turn the discus tank into a planted discus tank. I am slowly lowering the temp tp 27 and raising the pH to 6-7. I am also constucting a DIY CO2 system(pressurized) for the tank. My hurdle at present is to fit a soda stream bottle (new aluminium type) to a AQUA regulator. I will be turning a special adaptor to fit. Over tha past weekend we were at Elandsbaai on the West Cost. My kids and I walked along the Sishen-Saldhana Railway line and collected a lot of Iron ore rocks. Can these be used as decoration in the planted tank and will it release iron wich can be used as fertilzer by the plants. I placed two of them in the tank and all the fish are still fine. Regards Riaan
Welkom hier ! thats an idea to use that rock for decoration. will ask my brother in law if he has an idea about the iron's solubility.
