Hello I would like to start by thanking you all for a most interesting forum. I live in Cape Town and am re-entering the aquarium hobby after being inspired by my 12 year old niece who is a very keen aquascaper. The hobby has progressed so much since I had my last tank that I feel very much like a total beginner. My plans for now are to set up a 90l low tech planted tank. I also have fourteen killifish that I raised from one of those miracle fish kits. Those kits are all wrong but I was curious and fell to temptation. Does anybody have any idea what species they might be. Mine are 5 weeks old now and just starting to develop colours. I've been bitten by the bug so badly that I'm even starting a mozzie larvae basin outside. I look forward to learning and contributing. regards Tamarinda
Hi and welcome Tamarinda, from what I have read, nobody really knows or want to divulge the species found in those kits. Your best bet will be to post pics here or on TASA as here is some very knowledgeable fishpedics over here. You will find very valuable information on low tech here as well, do you have any idea what kind of plants you want to keep?
Thanks for the welcome. The magic kit killifish look a lot like Notobranchius Guentheri. I will post a picture as soon as I manage to get a decent one. They move all the time. Regarding plants I like the various mosses a lot and basic plants like java fern. I don't want anything that I have to molly coddle to keep growing. regards Tamarinda
