Nice now we need some specs. Lights, filtration, substrate, ferts you use, tank dimensions and so on. a little advise given to me when I started about two years back. First get the one tank set up and working properly then only start to think about a second tank. I wish I listened then :BangHead: before you invest in substrate or anything else first decide where you would want to go with this tank then equip it with what is needed. For instance if you going for plants like anubias, ferns and mosses you don't need expensive sustrate because non of them gets planted but tied to wood and rocks. So maybe get a picture of a tank that inspires you and post the pic and then ask as many questions as you can in achieving that look regarding equipment needed, substrate, ferts, CO2 and so on. Hope this helps

    Good morning ,

    The tank is roughly 60cm x 30cm x 30cm.

The lighting is the normal Daro "white" built and its 40 watt if i remember correctly.

The filter "I cant seem to recall the Japanese make with a light blue and white box" but i got a larger model. The filter is suitable for tanks between 60L - 80L.

I built myself a DIY CO2 kit but I’m already frustrated with it so ill be buying the ISTA complete kit this weekend from Dorry pets "Super awesome place" and the staff actually know what their talking about unlike the pet shops close to me "I won’t say who and where".

I also use liquid fertilizer and do a 10% water change every Saturday morning.

Pelase find below my new newly found inspiration. ;D

Hope u guys have a good one :occasion14:

    Thnx all ,

Just a quick question Do CO2 systems need to be turned off at night for plant health purposes or can it run 24\7?

Yes turn it off, why waste it.. more importantly the plants can't utilise it with no light so the plants in turn will be releasing no 02 into the tank, so not great for your fish and filter bio media. Most of of us aerate our tanks from lights off to help this.

    Thnx ,

I want to get rid of a red Oscar if anyone's interested in the Pretoria area , I’m even willing to swop it for a couple of Neon Tetra's.

Due to my noobness and the inexperience of the petshop guy he sold the oscar and Gouramies together and they aren’t the best of tank mates :BangHead:

The fish is about 2 inches.
