Good morning every one. I bought a pair of GBR from Marco and they spawned last night. The first unfertilised batch that I noticed was gone within an hour and by this morning, a new batch was visable. Was to dark to see weather this batch was fertilised or not. It takes the eggs about 40-48 hours to hatch and then after that the fry only becomes free swimming after 4-5 days, at which point you have to start feeding it. I am in the process of preparing baby brine shrimp, but noticed that you can feed them finly ground food and or mirco worms. Does any one know where I would be able to obtain micro worm culture? What do you give your fry?
Morning, I give my fry microworms and then bbs when they are large enough but I have micro fish. Diet is important for fish, but especially in the early part of life as you dont want them malnourished and deformed. Nothing beats bbs for raising fry. Get yourself a hydrometer to measure the salinity of the salt water for BS. Helps with getting good hatch rates. Mircoworm cultures takes 4-5 days to start producing worms (at least mine do) so if the latest batch of fry is good you need to get going.
Do you still have fry left? How big are they now? I would be interested in buying some if you want to sell them.
