Yip, you read it right: FREE. Bought this guys years ago from AquaTerra as a little R9.95 critter. Now he is roughly 45cm+ and outgrown his little home. If you have a nice large pond that will be suitable and would like to have him, he is yours! You just need to come fetch him. I'm in Stellenberg near Tygervalley (CPT) and you'll need to bring your own bag/bucket etc to catch him.

Can only just make a U-turn in his narrow home...

Some of you have bigger fish tanks than this... I know... :embarassed:

    PM me if interested.

    Cheers

Shiro = white; muji = single colour. Usually koi like this are produced from Kohaku(Red and white koi) or Bekko (white with black stepping stone pattern) spawnings... unfortunately they are generally culled as "unwanted" fry...to get a really good one - the head colouration must be as white as the body...

He's also a super strong fish. He was one of five. One got caught by a cat when still little. Two others I gave away to a friend with a slightly bigger pond. Another suffocated when my pump gave in. What's more interesting is that this fish started out as a tri-colour. Then when he was about 30cm, suddenly all the red (orange) colouring faded away. Then for a while he had nice big black patches on a white body. As you can see now, the black is mostly fading away as well. He has a nice shape though with good proportions. He just needs more space now..

Thanks man. Arums not great at the moment as they've been chowed by caterpillars and the water lilies are in Winter remission... it normally looks a lot better :embarassed: ...just added to show the Koi's little home.

lol - didnt even notice the black on him... he's a Shiro Bekko from a Taisho Shansuko lineage then (Sanke for short). The red colouration in koi is extremely unstable - only very well bred koi keep and develop it into adulthood. Agree with you though Neville, for a fish that grew up in a way to small pond, he has a rather good body shape...and the sumi(Black) on him is of a good quality...

Come on guys - give this fish a good home!

Pity, my dad has a massive pond that would have made a perfect home for it.

I would normally love to give him or her a nice big home, but I'm also trying to reduce numbers to make way for some new fish.. My pond also needs to be resurfaced this summer which is when I need to sort out the numbers. I've have had a damn reed colorant coming for breakfast which has removed some of my best bred young from last year and some other imported youngsters :snorting:

Would Danja at Fish ETC not perhaps take the fish even if you got a few plants or smaller koi in exchange, mind you I guess that's like taking coals to Newcastle..
