In the beginning I suggest you start with the bottle option this way you get more expierence and then later move to EI when you know your CO2 is right and you have built up more confidence and also done all the reading up on EI!

howzit guys!just started EI dosing and all is going well except for the fact that i cant stand the cloudy water from the dolomite pills.oh and the fact that at the rate of adding 15 pills daily i would have used 150 out of the 200 pills in the bottle after just 10 days of dosing.so my question is this, does anyone know of another way i can add my calcium and magnesium?

You can add a hand full of crushed coral to your filter and ditch the dolomite pills
What size is your tank and what filter do you use

starting up old threads is always a tricky one. normally it doesnt have much to do with the original intention of the thread.. also people are less likely to respond.

anyways, keep your crushed coral in a filter bag or stockings (not as durable and gets clogged). you won't need alot. how big is your tank? unfortunately i dont have a correct estimate of how much you need.. especially in different areas of SA. eg, centurion which is 40km from where i stay has way harder water than me because they have lots of lime stone there..

i used to just guesstimate it.. untill i realised that you dont actually need much Ca and Mg in jhb..

maybe the cpt guys can help.

So did I. But now Dischem no longer has stock and this is the answer they gave me. I will look into it, though.
