So decided to put this small tank into action. Used it for my Wabi Kusa experiment, which work nicely, but kinda got bored with it now.

Plans so far is a low tech semi emersed tank.

    Specs.
    Tank - DIY 25x25x10cm 8mm glass tank.
Light - DIY MR16 LED 3W spot light
Filter - Mini "built-in" sump, just a concept so far.
    Heating - No heater (Yet)
    Substrate - PFS
Hardscape - Dragon rock or sandstone + driftwood
Plants - Java moss, anubais, needle leaf java, buce, crypts.
Livestock - ??? haven't decided or researched on this yet.

Since the tank is so shallow, was thinking along the line of an island effect. So, rocks and driftwood will be sticking out of the water with plants on them. Wanting to only plant on and around the "island", and then scatter smaller stones on the outskirts.

One problem I found is that my smallest filter is still very big, and flow is quite hectic also. Busy designing something similar to a built-in sump / HMF, but scaled down big time. Will upload some pics soon.

Want to do something like this...

    tumblr_mzatseqpXq1s3c1oao1_1280.jpg

Quick question regarding livestock. Can guppies survive in an unheated tank? What options are there for fish in such a small tank without a heater.

Will start uploading some pics of the actual tank later.

    Comments and ideas welcome!

In a heated room guppies will do well.. but you can also use Minows.. or go natural and use gambusia (mosquito fish), or just shrimp.

Bt won't the tank be way too small for the white clouds?

So tried to do something similar to that pic, not close bt I think I like it. Hehe.

have the anubais and narrow leaf java on the wood. Tried to plant some crypts bt the substrate is too shallow, so will leave it bare for now. There wasn't much space after I put in the "sump" , so basically had to scape around the filter.

Will have to get a bit more PFS , then will plant more.

So why not put a heater and hangon filter on it, and CPD the lot? :) CPD's would do well there.

I want to but don't want dried fish biltong. It really is quite small and shallow and can't really fit in a heater, maybe a heating pad, bt nt sure how well that will work. Will consider the CPDs though. Want to get some for my other tanks.

    What about male guppies?
Love the idea of this tank, look forward to seeing it progress.

I'd possibly get another LED or two. Heavy light fall off towards the edges! But haven't seen someone tackle a setup like this in some time! Excited to watch the results!

Sorry for the lack of updates. Didn't do much with this tank. Just let it grow, no ferts, no CO2.

So here is a updated photo.

Did you ever add any livestock? And give us some engineering details on that filter:) I like the way you name your tanks by the way.....

I've only added MTS and pond snails. Nothing else.

Lol, that filter is a real DIY job. The original "mini sump" didn't work that lekker, so did this "mini trickle" filter. Will do a lil write up on it later. :D
