Just waiting for the typhons to chill in taiwan as soon as they do they will send me the leptasoma. I got some s. Fucifer in I know they pretty rare ,
Cool..what's the price on them..are the males coloured up and if so is there any chance of a pic..are they the type with full blue body and yellow tail..or just blue on top of head with tan body and yellow tail?also..how many males and females available and size please..sorry for all the questions
also still waiting...was told R100 each, that was 2 weeks ago. He asked for my email address to send a pic or 2 and that was the last I heard, despite a few attempts to clarify....
According to Loolitube the fish are actually Furcifer, that's Cyathopharynx furcifer. Dude, any chance the next shipment are actually Cyprichromis or do you know you're getting more Furcifer? Anybody buying, be aware that these fish are susceptible to bloat. Nobody who has seen the fish are too impressed by the little silver buggers, I just can't wait until I can show off the dominant male in full display and explain that it's the same fish.
the fucifers are here in the shop the leptasoma are put aside there are 7 i have been feeding and looking after . the fish are not a problem to get the problem is landing them they dont travel well at all
Hi man, I really do feel for the importers when it comes to these Tangs. It's known that the open water and sand dwelling Tangs just don't do travel, some suggest because their natural reaction is to run rather than hide like their rock dwelling cousins. What kind of percentages are you actually loosing when landing these species? Heheheh, you only mentioned the Furcifer to me... sly bugger! Only answer to the transport problem is to get them breeding locally, I've got a 1m x 1m x 80cm tank in the back of the fish-room just crying out to become a Leptosoma species tank. Somebody should also try shipping them young, fry don't seem to understand what's cooking when you move them around, as a result they don't stress as much.
thats the problem with the fish , they small when we import them and they still dont travel well and secondly when they get here they dont look like much so people think u crazy when u tell them what the price is so ja ... next thursday they land lets see how they land this time . thats the reason iv been trying to grow them so people can see what the actually look like. same as the calvus and the compressiceps they expensive fish and people dont want to pay the money but u can breed them here we can sell them for alot cheaper and every one can afford them.
@loolitube..I'm searching for leptosoma kitumba or the bright blue type leptosoma with the yellow tail...please let me know when you get some in..have a 2m tank screaming for them..n I know I can definately breed them
sjoe this topic has really spanned across years. have there been any successful breeders yet? and any place to purchase these fish in cape town? its been 2 years and i still haven't found any!
Yeah so I picked up a small school of Cyprichromis leptosoma Mpulungu 'blue flash' earlier today! I forgot how to post pics, it's been a while...
But there's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDkHwYWCsUU&feature=c4-overview&list=UUcczEkqNJaKL15ruWY6zNiQ
Howzit! Great video! Lovely to see them all enjoying their home and glad to have been able to deliver them for you. Feeding with brine shrimp is rewarded with lovely displays and brings them to breeding condition. Amazing to see how quickly a zooplankton feeder feeds on zooplankton, I counted once, a single Cyprichromis Microlepidotus adult took over 50 "scoops" in well under 30 seconds, quick fish! Some Leptosoma females are holding already so most of that lot are ready to breed. Interested to see how the males color up over the next few weeks, try to keep us posted! Cheers, Jack
Much appreciated, Jack! I will definitely keep posting as things progress. I'm thoroughly enjoying them. Could everyone who received cyps this shipment please post pics and videos on this thread?
