Hey guys. Sorry only posting now. Had my head in my tank all day, mainly due to planting what felt like 8 billion glosso clippings I scored from @Hanekka (Thank you so much!!) Got up at 8am to start.. was like christmas!, finished and passed out around 2pm. Back broken...

I want to say a big thanks to @Dirk B for last night for the effort put in and the amount of knowledge shared. I think I only managed to remember 10% of it all, but never the less feel wiser.

Cool putting a face to the members as always with forum meetups. Great meeting the people, again and first time, that I've been chatting to via here and email. @AdrianT, @AquaS, @wolf. And of course the ones that I'd never really interacted much before with.

If anything this meetup has fuelled me up to go further in the hobby. My fish don't know what hit them today. My tank (if grows) will be a jungle in the future.

Dirk, Did you manage to cover the venue hire cost? Hate for you to be losing out and put a damper in that regard. I loved the locations but mainly cause it's closer to me :)

    Next one couldn't come sooner!

    Hi Coldcat,

Thanks for the pics, much appreciated. We had a wonderful evening. It was great to be able to organize that everyone could come together, it was actually very easy. The contributions for the plants covered the hire precisely, I was not short, so you need not worry about this and thanks for the offer. Thanks again for chipping in everyone.

One of folks that I have forgotten to thank is Zain who made the nice labels, thanks very much, those were really good to help us to the get to know each other!

I look forward to Hanekka's pics......

    Kind regards,

    Dirk

Thank you Dirk for the very informative talk on the plants! Was great meeting everyone and thank you to all who brought plants. Have been busy today putting in the new driftwood from @AquaS and am in the process of adding the flame Moss, Java fern to the branches. This is what I got so far! 20140608_081703_20140608161135773.jpg

    Hi Hanekka,

Oh dear, yes I am sorry that my food is so tasty that your Yorkie wanted some as well. I am sure that you can use the rest though, just pack it into a container with a dogproof lid!

Sean, it was a pleasure to be of assistance, please contact me if you would like more plants.

Jax, if you want some of that wood send AquaS a pm, she can mail it to you.

    Kind regards,

    Dirk

Big thanks to everyone who made this happen, and a great turn out!

@Dirk B , a fountain of knowledge and indeed, many new things were learnt. Thank you so much. I'm looking forward to tapping your brain, soon. (I'll bring a drill next time )

Thanks for the awesome piece of wood @Dylan S , you made my day.

The venue is excellent I'd say. I also noticed that braai and would have enjoyed a few steaks so I suggest we do a bring and braai next time.

It was really good to put faces to the random names, I am looking forward to the next one! Thanks @Hanekka ^-^ @wolf @Adrian @zain (for the stickers too!) @Dylan S @Joshua Tree @Coldcat (with the now broken back...) @dart @JCL and surely a bunch I have missed or forgotten already :glass: I can only see these get togethers getting better and better.

We had a good balance. Mostly thanks to @AquaS for bringing odds-and-ends from her shop. Only downside was, everyone wanted new shiny things, instead of old dirty things. :p

Just a tip on this: I would suggest that everybody should always clean their used products before bringing them to a get together, even if you are giving it away. This is just common courtesy. There is nothing wrong with a second hand product that is still working fine and that is neat and clean, but just not useful for the owner anymore.

    Howzit all,

    Shot to everybody involved!
Great putting faces to some of the usernames, now just to put usernames to some of the faces again....

Very happy with the venue and it's location Dirk - agree that the fire place, and possibly the bar, might have been better used, heheh!
Would be really cool to get the projector running for your next lecture Prof. - adds a lot of possibility in subject matter with visual effects.

Heheh - shot Rudolph for the boot full of old equipment!
If anybody is missing any parts from equipment they found feel free to get in contact and I'll try find it.

Hanekke - not sure if you spotted the black perspex there? Not much of it but yours if you want it.

I'll slowly get around to testing some of the stuff and might keep a few things myself but if anybody wants a free power-head or internal filter (I never use these) give me a shout. Also have some mopani root here - after hearing it's story I guess I should rather give it to somebody who wants it than leave it for the puppy?

Think I must see if I can prepare a tank before the next meeting - have a little 45cm x 45cm x 38cm in my cupboard... yes, with water, and Neolamprologus similis.
Otherwise I'll have to make space for a temporary 90cm....
