    Hi everyone

I noticed today that Raymond (wearsbunnyslippers) has made tank of the month over at aquatic plant central with his 400l Juwel Rio setup.

A very warm congratulations to him for being the first South African to achieve this!

    Kind regards,
    The APSA Team

Sorry to hijack your thread, but reading the article left me with some questions :) You mentioned prune and preen, whats the difference? And on some of the photos you can see some dark shadows being cast, was just wondering what caused that?

Very good read! Makes me wanna get a bigger tank.

there are two black plastic braces which cast shadows, and i had dark corners from the tubes being slightly shorter than the tank, i have staggered my tubes now, check here to sort this out, i will still have the two center darks spots, there is a juwel tank mod some guys do, that replaces the black plastic with perspex, but you cant do it while your tank is full, i should have done it before i filled it up. if the current layout doesnt grow on me soon, i am going to do a full replant, maybe then i could do the brace mod...

pruning is obvious, preening is a couple of thing, moving some stems forward or backward... like if a stem is growing sideways or forwards but i dont want to trim it, i move the surrounding stems aside and put the errant stem where i want it, then let the neighboring stems hold it in position. pulling off dead leaves, taking out floating leaves, making sure that stems arent growing into the surrounding bunch too much etc. i even combed the tenellus once...

    Congratulations WBS!
I mentioned before this is probably the nicest looking tank I've seen on this forum and this achievement confirmed that.
