it is a plastic housing consisting of two parts that fit into each other... inside it houses a liquid supplied with the kit that has to be mixed with some tank water... it forms an air void underneath, and here gas interchanges take place with the dissolved gasses inside the water.. this makes the liquid turn into different colors depending on the amount of CO2 gasses that are desolved inside tha water column... following Dart's thread its quite easy to make your own, he named it a "DIY DROP CHECKER" but then you still need to get your hands on the liquid needed to put inside the "checker"

    Thx JP.

I think best would be for me just to buy one from a shop.

Anybody know where in CPT I can get one?

yes, the SERA one is good to use... im using both the SERA and RED SEA versions, and ive found the solution from the RED SEA kit is way more accurate, fluctuates faster if there is a change in waer chemistry, and it tends to last longer too before it needs replacing... and not forgetting its almost half the price they charge for SERA kits up here... lol

AquaH2O has the Duocai (ADA imitation) Glass CO2 Drop Checker and solution for up to 28 refills.

I think it was round about R60, if memory serves.

The lady at the counter didn't know what I was talking about either, when I inquired about a "CO2 Drop Checker". Just call them tomorrow again and ask to speak to Freddy.
