    Hi guys

A few months ago I bought 28 Caradina Shrimp (CRS,CBS and Golden bee's) from smartshrimp. But Dec with that massive hail storm we had on the east rand, a terrible thing happened... my ceiling collapsed and fell on my tank and my C02 bottle and so my regulator broke and my tank looked like crap!:( In fact my whole living room and dining room looked like crap but I was the saddest about my tank and the hard work that went into it.
So I have a 2 liter Excel that I got from a guy I bought my tank from and decided to add 2 or 3 caps full the one night to supplement some CO2 for the plants. Tank is 500 liter. When I got back to my tank an hour later there was total chaos in the tank. Every shrimp In that tank was swimming all over. Even all the babies. (I only realized how many cherry shrimp I had at that stage).
My tank is heavily planted so I don't always see how many there are.....but all my Caradina's died and plenty of my cherries as well. I am so Pee'd off I almost sold everything having part in the hobby...anyway..

I don't know why they died?? Maybe the excel expired or the dose too high?
My tank is only now starting to stabilize again after I had to clean out all the debris and dust and pieces of ceiling plaster from the tank.
Now I need to get more Caradina.
So smartshrimp has no stock at the moment and doesn't reply to my mails...

Can someone send me a PM with someone who can and will help me with my problem? Please??:toothy12:
I don't want to just PM the guys and just ask cause I know how it goes on the forum...

    thank you

    Martin

Sorry for your loss....i will strongly advise that you do not use any fertalizers with shrimp, esspecially Cardina species. Excel is highly toxic and is a no no, CO2 is safer. Wish I can point you to the right direction for shrimp, but for now I dont know of anybody.

Thanx Hennie. I have used excel before I had Compressed CO2. I have lost one or 2 before and always said its the excel but some people use excel without losing shrimp....so I am not sure why this happened though to that extreme.

Trompie, do you know what parameters they need to be housed in?
If you dont meet these parameters I am afraid you wont have much success with them

Man that sucks :/ I think the excel could have been the cause for all my shrimp that died las year. I hope you get some shrimp bud, the hobby has some downfalls at times, but we get over it as soon as we go to a petshop or see some shrimp pics :p
