    Hi guys

There seems to be some interest in having a get together in Cape Town. Dirk has offered to give us the same presentation that he gave previously in Gauteng. I could also give a small presentation on Cameroon.

Would anyone that is interested please let us know here? Depending on the amount of people, we can decide on a venue.

    Regards

    Andre

    cough...cough
... and then there are people on the "other list" that would give certain vital body parts to hear Dirk speak.....not to mention hearing first-hand about West Africa from the Captain.
    ....just my 5 cents
    Cheers,

This event (if we can call it that) is long overdue. I would like to meet the other oakes on this forum

I was actually thinking earlier of having a dop-'n-chop farewell to 2008 for all APSA members at someone's house here in CPT. Considering that most users are in CPT, the guys from JHB can fly fly down for the event/get-together. I'm sure that accomodation shouldn't be a problem as I think that most users on APSA would be willing to offer accomodation if they have spare rooms.
Depending how everyone feels about this on here, I am willing to chip in R 300 towards in return tickets for JHB users (devided equally of course) to CPT...I'd like to see/meet the likes of Raymond, Ruben, Pieter, Roelof etc etc from JHB. Maybe stay a weekend so that we can have a valuable session as well as a social afterwards....who knows, even go LFS crawling so that they can get a taste for the CPT market...I already know most of the LFS spots

If you also feel like chipping in for the flights, then feel free to comment :) I'm sure that we can make a difference to the financial attachment to this trip for our dedicated JHB APSA users. Think about it....if one person from CPT contributes at least R 100, we can save round-about R 1,000 (if not more) on airfares.

Let me know what you all think

    Cheers
    Dale

Not to be too harsh, but the Joburg folk have had this lecture from Dirk, before Dirk's "own people". As much as I would really like to meet them, perhaps on a trip up there I can...or alternatively if we can put together an aquatic show as discussed before the site went down, I think that would be a great opportunity for folk to meet.

I am in. It would be nice if a Wholesaler or one of the big LFS opened their doors to have the lectures there and then give us all an opportunity to buy from them at discounted prices. Or the Two Oceans Aquarium might also be a great place. Anyone got contacts ? ;D Rowland? ::)

Andre is going to be here from Cameroon in the next week. As a result I thought it would be quite nice if we could meet next week as he can then attend and perhaps give his lecture on Cameroon and I could give my lecture on South America. I could offer that we could meet at say in the Biochemistry Department at Stellenbosch University (where I work) at say 19h00 on Wednesday. I was thinking that if it was at 19h00 it would give the guys time to get there from CT after work say, and we could also have a few beers and eats in the process. We have a small comfortable lecture theater with all the necessary computers and projectors, and we also have an adjacent comfortable lounge and kitchen area. One can also find the place quite easily in Stellebosch. If Andre and I both gave lectures that would keep us busy for about 2 to 2.5 hours so it would also not get too late.

How do you feel about this suggestion?

    Kind regards,

    Dirk
